INCENTIVE / SPECIAL PAY

:: Aviation Career Pay

Aviation Career Incentive Pay is for Active Duty Officers on Aviation Duty. Both regular and reserve officers are eligible if they hold or are training to hold and aeronautical designation or rating who engage in aviation service on a career basis.

:: Career Sea Pay

Once a Service Member has served 36 months of consecutive sea duty, he/she is entitled to a Career Sea Pay Premium for the 37th month and each consecutive month thereafter.Charts >> 2009 Army Sea Pay | 2009 Navy and Marine Corps Sea Pay | 2009 Air Force Sea Pay

:: Diving Duty Pay

Each branch of service has specific qualification requirements for members to receive Diving Duty Pay. In general, these divers must be designated divers by order, training, and assignment.

:: Foreign Language Proficiency Pay

Entitlement to Foreign Language Proficiency Pay (FLPP) is established for officers and enlisted members receiving basic pay and certified by the individual service secretary to be proficient in foreign language.

:: Hardship Duty Pay

Hardship Duty Pay is given to servicemembers performing a designated hardship mission, when assigned to a designated location, or when serving on a designated involuntary extension of duty.

:: High Deployment Allowance

Members who are deployed 401 days or more out of the preceding 730 days are entitled to additional pay, which includes operations, exercises, unit training, home station training, and mission support temporary duty.

:: Hostile Fire / Imminent Danger Pay

HFD/IDP is paid when a servicemember, when entitled to Basic Pay, is subject to hostile fire, in a hostile area, or is killed or wounded in a hostile action.

:: Judge Advocate Continuation Pay

This incentive helps the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps retain quality officers by providing relief from the large student loan debts carried by many young Judge Advocates.

:: Overseas Extension Pay

Overseas Extension Pay is used as an added incentive for servicemembers to extend their overseas tour. Entitlement is at the descretion of the Service Secretary and is based on specific conditions.

:: Sea Duty Pay

Servicemembers who are at pay grade E-4 and above who receive Basic Pay are eligible for Career Sea Pay when certain conditions related to vessel assignment are met.

:: Special Duty Assignment Pay

Special Duty Assignment Pay (SDAP) is designed for enlisted members receiving Basic Pay whose duties are extremely difficult or involve an unusual degree of responsibility.

:: Special Pay for Dental Officers

This entitlement is authorized for members accepting a commission to serve as a dental officer in the military for at least four years.

:: Special Pay for Medical Officers

Special Pay for Medical Officers includes Variable Special Pay, Board Certified Pay, Additional Special Pay, Incentive Special Pay, Multi-year Special Pay, Board Certified Pay for Non-physician Health Care Providers, and Diplomat Pay for Psychologists.

:: Special Pay for Nurse Corps Officers

A Registered Nurse Accession Bonus is payable to qualified nurses who accept a commission to service on active duty as Nurse Corps officers for at least four years.

:: Special Pay for Optometrists

A commissioned optometry officer on active duty as a result of a call or order to active duty for a period of at least one year may be eligible for Special Pay. Those with less than one year of active duty may also be eligible under different requirements.

:: Special Pay for Pharmacy Officers

Eligibility for a commissioned pharmacy officer serving in a pay grade below 0-7 may be eligible for various levels of Special Pay by meeting certain requirements.

:: Special Pay for Veterinarians

A commissioned veterinary officer on active duty as a result of a call or order to active duty for a period of at least one year may be eligible for various levels of Special Pay by meeting certain requirements. Those with less than one year of active duty may also be eligible under different requirements.:: Submarine Duty Pay

Sailors are eligible to receive Submarine Duty Incentive Pay while attached under orders to a submarine, while serving on an operational submersible, during nuclear submarine training, or by meeting other requirements.
